Author

Harold Osmer is an award winning author of books about auto racing history in Southern California. His first book began as a graduate thesis in 1996 before finding life as Where They Raced, which then spawned two in-depth tomes focused upon Saugus Speedway as well as the Santa Monica Road Races. Where They Raced later reemerged as a video and judged Best Video of 2013 by the Motor Press Guild.

Harold has MC’d car shows, announced live at Irwindale Speedway, and did two tours as announcer on the Bonneville Salt Flats. He produced Miss Information’s Calendar of Events in the pre-internet days and continues creating selected content for LACar.com. Harold works in conjunction with USAC and JC Agajanian Jr in promoting the annual Turkey Night Midget Grand Prix.

Harold has driven race cars in anger, set foot in all fifty states, and served aboard a nuclear submarine. Currently, his days are largely spent in the wood shop.
